A Discourse of Pricks, with Jamie Hudson

Wednesday 4 July 2018, 8–9pm V22 Ilderton Project Space

Mathew Parkin and Jamie Hudson present a provisional edit of video footage, a reading and live sound work.

Taking its title from a crude translation of Antonio Vignali’s 16th century dialogue on sexuality, A Discourse of Pricks aims to think about sound, borrowing, and translation starting with the ambiguity of the term “prick” over the term “cazzo”. Provisional video footage will be accompanied by a live soundtrack from Jamie Hudson and a reading. The event aims to loosely think about listening being the dominate orientating device of cruising. In it the sexual dynamics of Robert Smithson and Nancy Holt’s ‘Swap’ are mixed with synthetic and recorded natural sounds building to a piano house climax.

Jamie Hudson is an artist and DJ based in Leeds who was in the 2017 cohort of School of the Damned and has an NTS show under the name Sendspaace. This event is part of early and tentative research into auricular aspects of cruising as a way of decentralising vision.
