Cafe Bliss Farewell Gift

Cafe Bliss Farewell Gift

Friday 30 October 2015, 12–12.20pm V22 Dalston

Very sadly the Bliss cafe on the corner of Dalston Lane and Ashwin Street closed down last week. Chased out by rising rents, Mary and Ali represent one of the true tragedies of Dalston's regeneration. The Bliss was a real haven for many of this area's old-timers and Mary took great care of them, refusing to put up her prices when she knew that old Dalston could not afford new Dalston rates. Many of us will miss Ali smoking on the corner, sharing the latest news or passing the time of day.

A large gap will be left in many of our lives and we would like to create a tribute to Mary and Ali in the form of a photograph of all of us outside the Bliss. We will frame it and send it to them as a farewell gift to remember us all by.
Whether you have ever enjoyed a Bliss meal or just want to commemorate the passing of a Dalston institution, please join us on the corner of Dalston Lane and Ashwin Street at 12pm on Friday October 30th for the photograph.
Please pass on this message to all Dalstoners.
Thank you and see you Friday.
