In 1997 the hill Vidigal, in Rio de Janeiro, was witness to a battle between local and favela da Rocinha's drug dealers. The almost daily shootings did not allow for many opportunities for fun for the inhabitants of the hill. Teacher and community leader Cypa, decided to organise a football championship with teams from various slums, thus seeking to establish a peaceful atmosphere. Copa Vidigal, directed by Luciano Vidigal, is a documentary inspired by this story.
